Journey Date: January 2014

When the Chinese New Year break arrived, we craved sun-drenched shores, warmth, and relaxation. Spontaneously, we set our sights on the tropical paradise of Phuket, Thailand. In just three unforgettable days, we explored stunning beaches, embarked on thrilling speedboat tours, and indulged in the luxuries of the resort.
We went for 3 days. The first day we went to the beach and pool at the hotel. The second day we went on a speedboat tour toPhang Nga Bay. The last day we went on a speedboat tour to the Phi Phi Islands.
Day 1: Arrival & Relaxation at Naithon Beach
We touched down in Phuket in the early hours of 3:00 in the morning, greeted warmly at the Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach. The resort, perched on a lush hillside just 15 minutes from the airport, welcomed us with a refreshing watermelon drink and cool towels—a perfect antidote to our long journey.
The hotel’s presentation was quite impressive. A guard stands at the entrance before you enter the tree-lined driveway leading to the lobby. Although it was a bit of a hike to reach our room, shuttles were available to drive us up if necessary. The staff members were exceptionally friendly.
Nestled above pristine Naithon Beach, the resort boasted breathtaking views of the Andaman Sea. A charming staircase led directly to the beach, while multiple pools offered serene spots to unwind. Our room overlooked both the ocean and the infinity pool, creating an idyllic backdrop for our stay. Later we found out that some of the best beaches are on that side.
Additionally, I was thrilled to discover that I didn’t receive any bug bites during our stay in our room or around the hotel grounds, which is a definite win for me!
After catching up on sleep, we embraced the day with a leisurely stroll along Naithon’s soft sands, followed by lounging by the pool. The resort’s buffet breakfast, served from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM, featured a delightful array of dishes, from tropical fruits to freshly baked pastries.

Day 2: Speedboat Adventure to Phang Nga Bay

The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the speedboat tour to Phang Nga Bay with Phuket Sail Tours. Opting for convenience since we were far from the tours, we paid extra for hotel pick-up, making the start of our adventure seamless. It was nice not having to worry about transportation. Our small group of around 15 travelers ensured an intimate experience. The friendly crew provided endless snacks, refreshing drinks, and a delicious Thai lunch. The speedboat zipped through emerald waters, offering panoramic views of limestone karsts towering dramatically from the sea. The water was so clear at some to fit beaches you could see the fish in the water without snorkeling.

- Big Tree: We paddled through serene lagoons and hidden caves, marveling at the rich hues of the water and intricate limestone formations.

- Koh Panyi: A visit to this vibrant floating Muslim village revealed stilted homes, bustling markets, and warm hospitality.

- James Bond Island: Famed for its role in The Man with the Golden Gun, the striking limestone spire left us in awe.

- Canoeing Through Caves: We paddled through serene lagoons and hidden caves, marveling at the rich hues of the water and intricate limestone formations. They someone on the canoe for you to paddle and bring you around.

- Hidden Lagoons: We trekked through caves, emerging into secluded oases framed by ancient tree roots.

The adventure concluded with fresh tropical fruits on a quiet beach. Then we ended by a mesmerizing sunset dinner back at the resort’s Italian restaurant.
Day 3: Exploring the Phi Phi Islands
Our final day was dedicated to the legendary Phi Phi Islands, again with Phuket Sail Tours. Despite experiencing a touch of seasickness, the sheer beauty of the islands was worth it.
- Maya Bay: Famous from The Beach, this breathtaking bay featured crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand. It was pretty crowded though.

- Pileh Lagoon: Enclosed by towering cliffs, the lagoon’s turquoise waters were perfect for a refreshing swim.

- Monkey in the Trees: We spotted playful monkeys perched among the trees—a unique highlight!

- Lunch on the Beach: We had lunch at a beach and just relaxed.

- Beach: Went to another beach and just hung out

After a hearty beachside lunch, we basked on secluded sands, soaking in our final moments of paradise.
Resort Highlights & Farewell
Returning to the Pullman, the hotel’s hospitality continued to impress. Despite our late-night flight at 11:00, they provided a shower room to freshen up post-tour. That morning, we checked out at 6 AM to accommodate our tour schedule. Fortunately, we were able to store our luggage at the hotel until our flight departure. To cap off the trip, we indulged in an aromatherapy massage at the spa—one of the best we’ve ever experienced.
A few final notes:
- No Mosquito Troubles: Surprisingly, we encountered no pesky bug bites throughout our stay.
- Italian Dining Delight: Evening meals at the resort’s Italian restaurant were consistently delightful. While reservations are recommended for preferred seating, walk-ins were easily accommodated.
- Outstanding Service: The staff’s warmth and attention to detail elevated our experience.
